He further emphasized that the signal was entirely accidental, happening amid the elation following the team’s final touchdown. “I just put up the incorrect finger,” he remarked. “The action was accidentally performed. I’m not kidding. If you want to call it accidental, you can. But it got corrected rapidly.”
